Why we all need a Digital Detox

It's not unusual for technology to leave us feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and struggling to stay focussed. We often feel the need to be always connected, always busy and never seem to have time for the important things like relationships, careers, or even our own health.

But it doesn't have to be this way

Digital detox expert Colin Corby will explore the benefits that regular digital detoxing brings using research and simple to implement techniques that will enable you to have a more sustainable relationship with technology and in the process improve your creativity, productivity, and physical and mental health.

Being human in the Digital Age

In this thought-provoking talk Colin Corby invites the audience to explore what it is to be human in the digital age and how we can preserve our individual identities and humanity when more and more of our lives will be determined by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Taking inspiration from some of the latest ideas from technology, neuroscience and philosophy, Colin asks some difficult questions about whether we have already passed the tipping point and what steps we can all take now to become more human resilient.

  • Footprint in digital background / Concept of digital footprint
Is your digital footprint killing the planet?

The United Nations have said that climate change is the defining crisis of our time and time is running out. The agreements and compromises that governments reached at the COP26, 27 & 28 Climate change conferences, although incredibly important, don’t go far enough. There is now a large scientific consensus that humans are the leading cause of climate change.

Many people already know that we all need to play our part and consume, waste and emit less. However, you may not have realised that your online digital activities are not as clean as you might have thought and may have serious consequences for the planet too.

This talk follows the TEDx guidelines and so is less than 18 minutes long.
